Gene Sarazen recalled playing with Ben Hogan as his partner in the early 40s at the Miami Four-Ball: “I thought I was a tough competitor. I’m just a violet compared to Hogan. In our first match we were four up at the end of six holes. Naturally I was riding high, and then Hogan cam up to me. You know what he said: ‘What’s the matter with us? Are we yellow? We should be six up here. Come on and get to work.’”
