Ben Hogan explaining in 1942 why he was so aloof on the golf course: “I had often heard that golf is about seventy percent mental and only thirty percent physical. So I began to work on the mental side, which, of course, means concentration…I found that you had to give your complete attention to every shot played, from the drive to the short putt. And leaving the first tee, there could be no recess, no loafing spot, on the mental side.”
